artists in creative education

Artists in Creative Education has been developed to stimulate and enhance the cooperation between schools, teachers and artists. The project will see 25 experienced artists selected from the following nine countries across Europe: England, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Turkey working together. These artists met in Amsterdam last autumn to draw up an outline of a guide for artists to work with children in primary schools. The project focuses especially on schools in deprived areas. During the course of school year 2010–2011 this first draft of the guide will be tested and refined through a series of artist exchange projects in 25 primary schools, all based in deprived communities in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands. The final guide will be disseminated and presented in the autumn of 2011 at a conference in Brussels attended by arts organisations, art education-experts as well as politicians and MEPs.
The project is part-funded by the European Commission and led by UK-based charity Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE) www.creativitycultureeducation.org, in partnership with three other European cultural and educational organisations: KulturKontakt Austria, www.kulturkontakt.or.at, Drömmarnas Hus Sweden, www.drommannashus.se and Culture and Entrepreneurship The Netherlands, www.cultuur-ondernemen.nl
