Workshop 1: Moving.Thoughts.Games
Artist Daniela Heißl, (Austria) will explore the possibilities of encouraging movement and dance in order to create learning impacts for children. Participants will:
- Be offered the opportunity to use their body language in new ways.
- Explore how movement is enabled by drawing on logical thinking.
- Draw on the practical insights learned from the AiCE projects and question them in creative and artistic contexts.
Workshop 2: Connect Kaos
Artists Claire Webster Saaremets (UK) Rumen Dimitrov (Bulgaria) and Anna Larsson (Sweden) will explore the question of how an artistic practice which includes creating environments of engagement and collective collaboration can identify key principles and moments of connection for very disengaged pupils. Participants will:
- Explore how an environment was created, within a school setting, to allow ownership, exploration, self expression and communication for creativity.
- Explore what the 3 main principles are which maintain the quality of collaboration within creativity.
- Experience film footage to bring the practice to life and to illustrate pupil journeys.
- View a documentary of images and spoken voice between the teachers and the artists to illustrate the quality and impact of the collaborative exchange.
Workshop 3: Going Dutch
Drawing on the experience of Cultuur-Ondernemen, Holland, this workshop, ‘Going Dutch’, will look to the large numbers of independent, self employed artists in the Netherlands who successfully develop and execute art projects for elementary schools. Many of the artists have followed the one year training BIK (Artists in Elementary Schools). This workshop will explore these projects and the way they work. Participants will explore these projects and the way they work drawing on a number of questions such as:
- “Did you ever regret something so badly you couldn’t tell anybody?”
- “How do you throw a party for somebody who never smiles?”
- “When was the last time you wished you could make yourself disappear?”
- “Did you ever catch a wood louse?”
- “How different do you communicate through telephone or computer?”
Workshop 4: Provocation for Participation
Drawing on the experience of Drömmarnas Hus, Sweden, this workshop will explore different cultural and educational ways to create participation in a creative process. Participants will explore the questions:
- Can all pupils really feel involved?
- How do you create a setting in which everybody can feel involved?
- How can you create a result of artistic value together with more than 100 children from different schools in a playful way?
The workshop will conclude with a discussion on the answers developed during the workshops and how this relates to the different methods which Drömmarnas Hus has developed through their work with culture in schools.
